Apple has still the problem with the duplicated „open with“ context entries. It seems that when you often install an update for an application, the “open with” entries will duplicate.
The issue is not a show stopper but it looks ugly.
You can use a Terminal Command or various kind of Apps to solve this issue.
For the Terminal Geeks of you, you can use an alias in the .bash_profile. Here you can find how to create an alias and the .bash_profile.
- Open the .bash_profile in the Terminal with the vi tool.
- Insert the following alias: (If you have trouble to copy and paste these lines, it is better to write off)
rsions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain user;killall Finder;echo "
Open with has been rebulit, Finder will relaunch"'
- Save and exit vi with
You have to restart the Terminal to reload the .bash_profile. Now you can test it with typing fixow in the Terminal.
